Racism And Religion

Racism and religion are topics that bring plenty of controversy in different parts of the world. A person can say something based on a personal experience and it could come off as being a form or racism. A person has a right to believe in what they want, including whether God exists, but many feel religion is something sacred and has a line that should not be crossed. Modern society has various views on these issues but some may be due to lack of knowledge in a certain subject area. How can people become more comfortable with their views with racism and religion without leading to hurtful conflict?

Racism is when a person says or does something inappropriate or offense in reference to another race. Unfortunately, racism continues to be a huge problem in certain parts of the world. There are civil rights groups that help people fight their way to where they want to be and to be treated fairly no matter their race. There are laws in place claiming people have a right to vote, work, and speak, but even the law has flaws that have kept people from getting opportunities they deserve because of their race. Racism has led to careless acts of death, punishment and unfair treatment of adults and children. Some progress has been made but there is still work to be done.

Religion is a form of religious belief that many people include in their daily living. Religion may actually have a different definition depending on who you ask. Some people think religion involves having faith in some type of higher power. Others think it has something to do with personal beliefs and how people should perceive things around them. For those that believe in God or define themselves as a certain religion (Christian, Protestant, etc.), religion is important and helps them define who they are in their higher power.

The conflict gets worse when racism and religion are mixed. Some people may feel racist toward someone because they have a certain belief (which may sound strange but true). People are known to treat each other unfairly because of the way they look, their personal beliefs, or their ethnic background. So much has changed over the years you would think things in the human race would be better, but personal views with small0minded individuals continue to hold people back from their true potential.
